THROUGH SPORT

Rouge Valley Sports Camp is a teacher owned  day camp located in Markham, Ontario. We look forward to providing campers, ages 4 - 17, from Markham and the surrounding areas with weeks filled with fun, friendship, engaging activities and lifelong memories.

Programs and Activities

Rabbits (4-5) 

- 6:1 camper to staff ratio

- Focus on developing fine and gross motor skills: arts & crafts, leaping, running, etc.

- Sport Intro Activities: pool noodle hockey, sponge ball soccer, beach ball volleyball, etc.

- Daily playground time

- Character Development: please & thank you's, sharing

Deer (6-7)

-Focus on developing basic sport skills: modified versions of soccer, baseball, hockey, basketball and more for camper success.

- Sport Rotation, Educational Periods, Arts & Crafts, and Camp-Wide-Activity are the basis of this program.  

- Daily playground time.

- Character development: depends on the week (integrity, being a good teammate, resiliency, hard work, competitive greatness, sportsmanship, loyalty, friendship, charity and more) 

Foxes (8-10)

- Focus on developing sport specific skills during elective periods.

- Introduction to new sports during the sport rotation.

- Fun educational periods twice weekly.

- Open gym after lunch

- Character development: depends on the week (integrity, being a good teammate, resiliency, hard work, competitive greatness, sportsmanship, loyalty, friendship, charity and more)

Bears (11-13)

- Focus on developing sport specific skills during elective periods and leadership.

- Introduction to new sports during the sport rotation.

- Fun educational periods twice weekly.

- Open gym after lunch

- Character development: depends on the week (integrity, being a good teammate, resiliency, hard work, competitive greatness, sportsmanship, loyalty, friendship, charity and more)

Ages 14-17

- Modules are derived from leading business, educational and youth leadership literature.

- Guest speakers who are leaders in various fields (coaching, youth leadership, business, law, education)

- 4 week program, with an optional (and free!) 5th & 6th week as LIT volunteer.

- July 8 - Aug. 2

- Emphasis on self-discovery, confidence building, and encouragement for participants to be able to stand alone and invite others with them to make positive contributions in their school and community.

Key terms of our teacher curated camp program:

 

1. Sport Rotation - 7 hr / wk - campers are introduced to new sports such as ultimate, lacrosse, baseball, flag football and more!

 

2. Elective Periods - 3 hr / day - Fox and Bear campers choose between Soccer/Dance, Basketball/Volleyball & Floor Hockey/Badminton for top notch instruction and game play. 

3. Educational Periods - 2 hrs / wk These educational periods include science experiments, spelling bees, math Olympics and fun trivia that are age appropriate.

4. Arts & Crafts - Only the Rabbits and Deer work on new themed craft each day!

5.Camp-Wide-Activity - These are fully themed camp style games (capture the flag, mission impossible, station games, and more!) that are a Rouge Camps distinctive and camper favourite.

Our campers rate our activity, educational, elective periods and camp-wide-activities 8.5/10 or higher. 

6. Daily Parent Emails - Stay informed, know what to bring the next day and have content for meaningful conversations with you campers!
